Between hardware shops, Lorenzo made his move. He didn’t know why he felt the need to be so sneaky about it, given Gideon had granted his blessing for the investigation, but he couldn’t shake the feeling that he needed to look for the missing vehicle in secret.
The second hardware shop near the Cheltenham area would have to wait a while longer. Lorenzo would be quick; he already had a hunch regarding where the car might be. That was if Redman really had been turned to the Zircon Clan’s side. If the vehicle wasn’t there, the chances of that would be drastically reduced in his mind.
Either way, he’d be back in no time and purchasing those building supplies. Cheltenham wasn’t likely to run out of those anytime soon, given the New Melbourne suburb’s growing reputation as the hub of hardware supplies. In fact, Lorenzo wasn’t even sure there was a place to get building materials and hardware other than close to Cheltenham. It was becoming a strange quirk of New Melbourne that businesses of a certain kind gathered around the same suburb, directly competing with each other in an attempt to become the only business of that kind. In the underground, it was eat or be eaten.
As he drove away from the first hardware store of the day, Lorenzo went through the mental checklist of what he’d needed to get. Electrical supplies and plenty of timber were dealt with, but plumbing supplies and building materials were still waiting. He had to get everything perfect, otherwise, their plan wouldn’t work out and Gideon would be quite upset.
After all, it wasn’t like the elites living on the Mornington Peninsula would settle for anything other than the absolute best wood and components. There was every chance that their client would inspect the materials, which meant they had to provide them in batches. Once Lorenzo had everything today, he’d take it all to their storage unit until the time came when they would be used on the new luxury building.
All going well, it wouldn’t be too long.
