I’ve always had a huge passion and desire to work with my hands. I’ve always been very good at taking things apart and rebuilding them. I was always in trouble as a kid by either my mum or my school teachers. It’s not that I was a naughty kid. I was a curious kid who simply could not help himself when it came to wanting to know how things worked. I loved challenging myself and seeing whether or not I could take something apart and put it back together, but better! These little experimental ‘building’ projects, as I like to call them, were key to me developing the skills and patience needed to become the skilled tinkerer I am today.
I’m actually a truck driver by trade. There’s something I just absolutely love about driving around for hours on end and eventually retreating to some tinkering and a nap. Truck driving doesn’t pay too badly believe it or not. It’s definitely not a job for the faint-hearted as it can get very tiring, but I don’t mind it. It helped me pay the cost of 4×4 aluminium canopies I had been wanting to install at the back of my ute for years.
I had been wanting a ute with aluminium canopies since I was fifteen years old. I wasn’t even driving at that age yet, but I had a dream to be ‘the guy’ when it came to being able to fix stuff and I knew if I was going to be that guy, I needed the tools to go along with it. To keep a long story short, it took years to be able to afford the canopies. After purchasing the tools I wanted, I was out of money. Then there was the whole fiasco of purchasing ute trays. Melbourne isn’t the cheapest city, and this is definitely reflected in its price of ute trays. Luckily, I managed to find a ute tray seller that was super reasonably priced with all their stock.
