Poor Vision Trauma

I don’t understand what is going on with me. Over the last eight months, I’ve been struggling with headaches, eyestrain and brain fogginess. What I haven’t told many people is that I was actually involved in an accident eight months ago and it could be this incident that is causing my head to behave this way. What happened was I had been incredibly unwell for a couple of days and felt quite faint. Unfortunately, I was standing at the top of the staircase and fainted. As I collapsed, I fell down the stairs and banged my head against the walls, steps and stair bannisters. Eventually, I landed on the hardwood floor at the bottom of the staircase. According to my friend who had been staying with us, my head was gushing blood when she found me on the floor. I don’t remember anything from me falling. In fact, all I remember is me standing at the top of the staircase thinking ‘I better go downstairs to fill up my water bottle’ and then next thing I know I’m in a hospital bed with my head bandaged.

After my accident, it was recommended that I visit an eye doctor in the Bayside area. Apparently, it’s standard protocol to visit an optometrist after having a head injury. Head injuries can lead to a lot of problems with speech, vision and memory. I’m very lucky as I believe I’ve gotten away unscathed in terms of speech and memory. What I am experiencing however is headaches and problems with my eyesight. In theory, I should’ve booked my optometrist appointment months ago but I kept putting it off because I’m lazy, but also because I didn’t want to find out bad news.

I’ve made a booking for the optometrist. Cheltenham is the suburb I work in, and I’ve been fortunate enough to find a highly recommended eye doctor who is experienced in conducting eye tests for people who are suffering from head trauma. I hope they don’t find anything permanent with my eyes. I’d hate to find out I’m at risk of losing vision.
